7 Bible Verses to Cling Onto As An Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurship is hands down one of the hardest journeys I've ever been on. The amount of faith, resilience, and tenacity that it takes to keep going (even when things look bleak) is just so much more than I could have ever imagined. And yet, no matter how many times I've tried walking away, I always feel led back to this journey because it is where my heart is the most content.
I've recently been unpacking the idea of "being graced" for something, and it's made me realize that entrepreneurship is something that God has given me the grace to endure. This is why even when things get hard, even when nothing seems to be working the way I want to, even when I try to walk away from it, I always come back here because God has graced me to be on this journey.
I don't think you're reading this blog by accident. If you've been struggling on your entrepreneurship journey, I want to encourage you to lean on God through every single step of the process. Bring whatever questions are currently coming up or whatever struggles you're currently facing to the Lord, and He will strengthen you so you can keep going.
Below are some of the verses I cling to anytime I'm overwhelmed with this journey, tempted to give up, or lost and don't know what to do. I pray that they help you along your journey as well!

1. "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." ~Matthew 6:33
This verse is a spiritual compass that reminds me to put God first above anything else. In the chase for success, growth, and validation, it’s so easy to make the business you desire to have, the center of everything in your life. Before you know it, the thing God gave you becomes the thing you put above Him. This verse pulls me back every time and reminds me that provision, opportunity, and favor all come from the Lord and are not things that I can grind my way into.
This doesn't mean that you should prioritize your relationship with God so you can get a successful business in return. No, this shouldn't be a transactional relationship. What this verse reminds us of, is that all the things we think the successful business will give us (the joy, the financial freedom, the sense of purpose) ALL come from God Himself. He is the source of it all, so put Him first in your life above all things.
2. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." ~Proverbs 3:5-6
This verse reminds me to trust and seek God no matter what things look like in front of me. His strategies might not always “make sense” on paper, but they're always the right move. Whether it’s letting go of a client, pivoting a business model, or pausing to rest when you feel like you should be going 1000 miles per hour, you won’t always understand why God is nudging you in a direction, and that's ok. Don't try to lean on your own understanding or your own perceived expertise on the matter at hand; lean on God's wisdom and be obedient when He leads you down a path that you may not understand. Every time I’ve trusted Him over my own instincts, He’s led me somewhere better than I could have mapped out myself.
3. 2 Kings 4:1–7 – The Widow's Olive Oil
This story always reminds me that God has already given me all that I need to bring forth the vision He's entrusted me with. The widow in this story was freaking out about paying debts her late husband owed. When she came to the prophet Elisha for help, he asked her one simple question: "What do you have in your house?" God multiplied what she already had to help her pay off her debts and create a stream of income for herself that she could use to sustain herself going forward.
We often look outward for help, whether it's buying new tools, building new connections, or getting new ideas from people, when God has already given us what we need. The skills we have that are unique to us, the relationships we've already built, and the creativity we carry are all things that are already in our "house" that God can use to bless us.
4. "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin..." ~Zechariah 4:10
Starting from scratch can be discouraging. Especially when your vision is big, and all you’ve got right now is five followers, one client, or a product you’re still tweaking. It’s easy to feel like you’re behind or failing because it doesn’t look like success yet. But God sees the beginning differently than we do. He rejoices in the fact that you started, took the step, and said yes even when the outcome was unclear.
This verse reminds me not to measure impact by numbers or speed, but by faithfulness. Every empire started with one brick. Every move of God started with someone saying, “I’ll go.” Don’t minimize what you’re building just because it’s not polished yet. God is already in it, and that’s more than enough.
5. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."~James 1:5
When you're building a business, there are moments you feel completely in over your head. There’s no roadmap, no manual, and you’re forced to make decisions that carry weight. This verse reminds me that I’m not supposed to know everything and that I can lean on the One who does know.
I remember going through a season where I felt completely lost, and a friend of mine pulled up this verse and reminded me that I can seek the Lord for wisdom. We unpacked this verse together and saw that God not only invites us to seek Him for the wisdom we lack, but He promises that when we do, He will give it to us generously, graciously, and right on time.
6. "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." ~Galatians 6:9
This verse has kept me going on the days I’ve wanted to give up completely. Entrepreneurship doesn’t offer immediate gratification. You sow, sow, sow, and sometimes the harvest feels like it’s taking forever. But God is a God of seasons, and if He says you’ll reap, you will. The key is not giving up during the waiting season and not quitting when you feel unseen. Keep building, keep sowing, and trust that the harvest is growing.
7. "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." ~Exodus 14:14
This one speaks to the moments of burnout, anxiety, and exhaustion. When you're juggling too much, trying to force results, or scrambling to fix what’s broken, this verse is a reminder that God’s not asking for your frantic effort. He’s asking for your trust.
Stillness isn’t inactivity; it’s surrender. There have been moments where I’ve done all I can, and the only thing left to do is be still and let God move. And guess what? He always does.
8. Bonus: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." ~Deuteronomy 31:6
This verse has anchored me in moments when I’ve felt completely alone in the journey. When you’re building something from the ground up, there are seasons where support is scarce, money is tight, and no one really gets what you’re doing. This verse reminds me that I am never building alone. God is not watching from a distance, He is with me in the uncertainty, in the slow seasons, and in the decisions I’m scared to make.
I pray these verses encourage you and help you lean on God through the highs and lows of your entrepreneurship journey.
