10 Journaling Prompts to Check in With God About Your Year

It's crazy to believe that we're already halfway through 2025!!! Like whaaat?!

It's weird because on one hand, it feels like the year is going by super fast, but on the other hand, so much has happened already that it's hard to believe we’re only halfway through the year. But while the weight of these past six months still feels a bit heavy, I can't help but be hopeful that only being halfway means God is still writing our stories for this year.

There’s still time for a redemption arc in your 2025.

There’s still time for the answered prayer you’ve been waiting on to come to pass.

There’s still time for God to mend the broken parts of your heart.

There’s still time for your testimony to unfold and the breakthrough you’ve been hoping for to finally happen.

We serve a God who doesn’t need a full twelve months to fulfill a promise. He can bring restoration, clarity, provision, and peace in the most unexpected moments—even when it feels like time is running out.

So as we step into this new quarter, I want to invite you to use these journaling prompts to check in with God about where you are right now and what your hopes are for the rest of the year.

1. If you could use one word to describe your 2025 so far, what would it be?

Write to God about it and unpack why you chose that word with Him.

2. How do you feel about where you are right now?

Write to God about it. Be open and honest with Him about how you are feeling.

3. What hopes do you have for the rest of the year?

Write to God about them and allow yourself to dream with God.

4. What lessons do you feel God was trying to teach you in the first half of this year?

How have you felt about them? What has it been like yielding to the pruning that the Lord is doing in your heart?

5. What’s something you want to do differently in the next six months?

Is there a habit you want to build, a mindset you want to shift, or a boundary you want to set? Write it out and ask God for the grace and the strength to be able to do it.

6. Did you set any goals at the start of the year?

How are they going? Reflect on them without shame. What adjustments do you feel led to make now? What goals still feel aligned with where God is leading you?

7. What prayers have you stopped praying?

Write to God about them. Be open and honest with God about why you've stopped praying them and ask Him to renew your faith in those areas.

8. Where have you seen God’s faithfulness so far this year?

Even if it's just in small ways, reflect on the goodness of God this year.

9. What do you feel like you need more of right now?

Whether it’s clarity, community, rest, confidence, or courage—write to God about it and ask Him to meet you there.

10. What do you sense God speaking over your life in this season?

Take a moment to be still and invite the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. Then journal whatever you hear, feel, or sense, even if it’s just one word or phrase.

I pray these journaling prompts help you slow down, reflect on your year so far, and renew your hope in the Lord for the next 6 months.

Happy Journaling!!!
